Buccaneers Reportedly Interested In OL Nate Chandler

Greg Auman of the Tampa Bay Times reports that the Buccaneers are interested in former Panthers OL Nate Chandler, who was waived earlier in the week.

  • According to Auman, the Bucs’ interest in Chandler could be an indication that they expect veteran G Logan Mankins to retire, as they wouldn’t be in need of more depth at the position if Mankins was returning in 2016.
  • Auman adds that Mankins has yet to make a decision regarding his future, but he did mentions that he was planning to let the team know before the start of free agency.

Chandler, 26, was entering the third year of his four-year, $5.12 million rookie contract when he was released in a move that freed up $1.3 million in available cap space for the Panthers.

Chandler missed the entire 2015 season due to a knee injury that led to him being placed on season-ending injured reserve.
