Texans Re-Sign ERFA CB Charles James & P Shane Lechler

John McClain of the Houston Chronicle reports that the Texans have re-signed exclusive rights free agent CB Charles James.

Meanwhile, Rand Getlin reports that the Texans are re-signing veteran P Shane Lechler to a one-year contract.

James, 25, was a standout on this year’s Hard Knocks while he was playing for the Texans. However, he wound up being among their final roster cuts at the start of the season and later caught on with the Ravens.

Unfortunately, Baltimore elected to waive James back in October, but he was later claimed off of waivers by the Texans.

In 2015, James appeared in nine games for the Texans and recorded 19 tackles and a pass defense.

Lechler, 39, is a 16-year NFL veteran who was in line to be an unrestricted free agent in the coming days.

In 2015, Lechler appeared in all 16 games for the Texans and totaled 3,885 punt yards and 10 touchbacks.
