Eagles Interested In Lions LB Tahir Whitehead As Possible Kiko Alonso Replacement

Eliot Shorr-Parks of NJ.com, citing a person familiar with the situation, reports that the Eagles have expressed interest in Lions free agent LB Tahir Whitehead.

This comes after the news that they’ve reached an agreement with the Dolphins to send LB Kiko Alonso and CBC Byron Maxwell to Miami for draft compensation.

Whitehead has obvious ties to new Eagles DC Jim Schwartz from their time in Detroit.

Whitehead, 25, is a former fifth-round pick of the Lions back in 2012. He has played out his rookie contract and is now in line for a sizable raise on the market in the coming days.

In 2015, Whitehead appeared in all 16 games for the Lions and recorded 51 tackles, two sacks, an interception, a fumble recovery and six pass defenses. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 14 linebacker out of 97 qualifying players.

We have him featured in our Top 100 – 2016 Free Agents list.
