Vikings Likely To Release WR Mike Wallace In The Coming Days?

Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports mentions that he’d be “shocked” if Vikings WR Mike Wallace wasn’t among the roster cuts coming in the next 48 hours.

Last we heard regarding Wallace, Chris Tomasson of the Pioneer Press reported that the Vikings would like to have both Wallace back next year, as long as “the price is right.

However, Tomasson added that Wallace would likely have to agree to a “significant” pay cut to ensure he isn’t released in the coming days.

Wallace, 29, is in the fourth five-year, $60 million contract that included $30 million guaranteed. He stands to make base salaries of $11.45 million over the next two years.

According to OverTheCap.com, releasing Wallace would free up $11.5 million in available cap space while creating no dead money.

In 2105, Wallace appeared in all 16 games for the Vikings and recorded 39 receptions for 473 yards receiving and two touchdowns. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 96 receiver out of 121 qualifying players.
