Dolphins Unlikely To Re-Sign Lamar Miller, Cowboys & Texans The “Front-Runners” To Sign Him?

Omar Kelly of the Sun Sentinel, citing multiple sources, reports that it appears as though the Dolphins will allow free agent RB Lamar Miller to depart in free agency for a more lucrative offer.

According to Kelly, the Texans and Cowboys appear to be “front-runners” to sign Miller. However, Kelly admits that it’s still early and it’s possible that things could change in the next 24 hours or so.

The expectation has been that Miller was going to test the open market, even though the Dolphins would like to have him back.

Miller, 24, played out the final year of his four-year, $2.58 million rookie contract that included a $486,000 signing bonus and is now in position to be one of the best available running backs in this year’s free agent class.

In 2015, Miller appeared in all 16 games for the Dolphins and ran for 872 yards on 194 carries (4.5 YPC) to go along with 47 receptions for 397 yards receiving and 10 total touchdowns. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 5 running back out of 68 qualifying players.

We have him featured in our Top 100 – 2016 Free Agents list.
