Dolphins Still Trying To Trade CB Brent Grimes?

According to Armando Salguero, the Dolphins have been trying to trade veteran CB Brent Grimes now that they have a deal in place to trade for Byron Maxwell.

Reports from yesterday mentioned that the Dolphins were prepared to release Grimes, but no official move has been made up to this point.

Salguero seems to think Grimes’ wife, Miko, is actually hurting their chances of trading him, due to the comments she’s made online.

Grimes, 32, was in the third year of his four-year, $32 million contract that included $16 million guaranteed.  He was set to make a base salary of $7.8 million for the 2016 season.

According to OverTheCap.com, releasing Grimes will free up $6.5 million in available cap space while creating $3 million in dead money.

Trading Grimes would produce the same amount of cap space and dead money.

In 2015, Grimes appeared in 15 games and recorded 48 tackles, four interceptions, and 14 pass defenses.

We’ll have more regarding Grimes as the news is available.
