Redskins Have Made CB Will Blackmon An Offer, Has Interest From Other Teams

Mike Jones of the Washington Post reports that the Redskins have extended DB Will Blackmon a contract offer, but he is drawing interest from other teams as well.

  • Jones adds that Blackmon is currently reviewing his available options.
  • Tarik El-Bashir reported last night that the Redskins and Blackmon were still discussing a new contract.

Tarik El-Bashir of CSN Mid Atlantic reports that the Redskins and free agent CB Will Blackmon have discussed a contract extension that would allow him to return to Washington in 2016.

  • According to El-Bashir, there is a “high” level of mutual interest between the Redskins and Blackmon. However, Blackmon could have other suitors once the market opens tomorrow.
  • El-Bashir adds that Washington likes Blackmon’s experience and versatility at the position.

Blackmon, 31, wound up signing a one-year contract with the Redskins last year after traveling around the league during his eight-year NFL career. He’s in position to be once again be an unrestricted free agent.

In 2015, Blackmon appeared in 15 games and recorded 49 tackles, one sack, two interceptions, three forced fumbles, two recoveries and six pass defenses. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 82 cornerback out of 111 qualifying players.
