Jets Signing LT Ryan Clady To A One-Year, $6M Deal With 2017 Option

Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that the Jets are signing LT Ryan Clady a one-year contract worth $6 million with $3 million guaranteed.

• The Jets have an option for 2017 worth $10 million and can escalate up to $13 million.
• According to Rapoport, Clady’s first year can be worth $7.5 million by reaching incentives and the two-year contract maxes out at $20.5 million.
• Mike Florio reports that Clady is due a bonus of $2.5 million in February 2017, which will prompt the Jets to make a decision in advance of free agency next year.

This completes the trade between the Broncos and Jets that included a few draft picks switching hands.

The expectation was that Clady was going to have to restructure his current contract in order to facilitate a trade out of Denver, so this shouldn’t come as much of a surprise.

Clady, 29, had another two years remaining on his five-year, $52.5 million contract that included contains $33 million guaranteed. He was set to make base salaries of $9.5 million in 2016 and another $10 million in 2017, but included no guaranteed money.

Clady wound up missing the entire 2015 season, due to a torn ACL, so it will be interesting to see how he looks like this summer with the Jets.

In 2014, Clady appeared in all 16 games for the Broncos and was rated by Pro Football Focus as the No. 41 offensive tackle out of 84 qualifying players.
