Alabama LB Reggie Ragland Flagged For Enlarged Aorta, Not Expected To Alter His NFL Career

Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that Alabama LB Reggie Ragland was flagged for an enlarged aorta, which has led to some teams pushing him down a bit.

  • According to Rapoport, Ragland will require yearly monitoring of his heart.
  • Even with the enlarged aorta, Rapoport has spoken to seven teams who do not expect this to alter Ragland’s NFL career, but is something to monitor.

Some had said that Ragland could be a candidate to drop in round one and possibly to the second round. However, this is the first we’ve seen regarding a medical concern for him.

The good news is that it doesn’t appear to be a major deal for him moving forward, and could end up being a positive thing in the end as it will require further attention to monitoring his heart.

Ragland could end up going as high as No. 14 overall to the Raiders while others have suggested that the Packers could be his floor at No. 27 overall.

For what it’s worth, we have the Packers taking Ragland in our recently updated 2016 NFL Mock Draft.
