49ers CB Chris Culliver Could Have A “Very Significant” Market In Free Agency

Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk reports that there could be a “very significant” market for 49ers free agent CB Chris Culliver this offseason.

Florio admits that this is surprising to hear, especially when you consider Culliver has been sued for his involvement in an  an auto accident with a bicycle in which he allegedly used brass knuckles to threaten a 15-year-old witness, who tried to keep Culliver leaving the scene

Previous reports have said that even though there may not be a lot of big-name free agents in this year’s class, they could still secure some significant salaries between $7 million – $10 million per year.

Culliver, 26, has played out his four-year, $2,638,876 rookie contract that included $808,500 guaranteed, and is now in position to be an unrestricted free agent in the coming weeks.

In 2014, Culliver recorded 45 tackles, four interceptions, a forced fumble, a recovery, a defensive touchdown and 15 pass defenses for the 49ers. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 14 cornerback out of 108 qualifying players.

We have Culliver listed as the No. 45 player in our Top 100 Free Agents list.

  1. Anybody that wants an Chris “Automatic First Down” Culliver can have him. He and D. Whitner single handedly game B.More the superbowl. And since then, if it’s 3rd and long, go at Culliver. I hope we keep Cox. Dude played some good football.
