49ers CB Tarell Brown Likely To Test Free Agent Market

It is becoming increasingly likely that impending free agent CB Tarell Brown will test the waters in free agency.  When asked if there have been talks between Brown and the 49ers, Brown told CSNBayArea.com, “Nothing.

This news comes only days after a Jason La Confora report indicated that San Francisco was “making a push” to bring the seven-year veteran back.

Matt Maiocco of CSNBayArea.com believes that the 49ers best offer to Brown, whenever that may come, will likely be in the same range as teammate Tramaine Brock, who was given a four-year extension in November with $14 million in new money and $7 million in guarantees.

Brown, 29, will be able to negotiate with additional teams on March 8, with free agency officially starting March 11.  Brown totaled 32 tackles and a fumble recovery for the 49ers last season.

Pro Football Focus rated Brown as the No. 32 cornerback in the league next season. We have him listed as the No. 62 player in our Top 100 Free Agents list.
