49ers Claim CB C.J. Goodwin Off Waivers From Giants, Waived WR DeAndre Carter

The San Francisco 49ers announced that they’ve claimed CB C.J. Goodwin off of waivers from the Giants and waived WR DeAndre Carter.

  • The 49ers also signed DL Blaine Woodson to a contract.

Goodwin, 28, originally signed on with the Steelers as an undrafted free agent out of California of Pennsylvania back in 2014. He bounced on and off their practice squad before signing on with the Falcons’ practice squad.

Atlanta decided to cut him shortly after signing him to a futures contract and was claimed off of waivers by the Cardinals back in December of last year. Arizona tendered him a one-year contract as an exclusive rights free agent but waived a few weeks ago.

Goodwin was later claimed off of waivers by the Giants before being cut loose on Monday.

In 2017, Goodwin appeared in 14 games for the Cardinals and recorded nine tackles and no interceptions.
