49ers Could Make LB Corey Lemonier Available For Trade

Matt Maiocco of CSN Bay Area reports that the San Francisco 49ers could field trade offers for OLB Corey Lemonier in the days leading up to Tuesday’s deadline.

Earlier in the day, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that the 49ers will need to create some roster space in the coming weeks, as players like OLB Aldon Smith, DT Glenn Dorsey, LB NaVorro Bowman and RB Marcus Lattimore are getting closer to returning.

Schefter mentioned that the 49ers could be interested in trading a defensive player or two on the back end of their roster if they can get a late-round pick in return. San Francisco currently does not have the necessary room on their roster to add the returning players.

Lemonier, 22, was taken in the third round of the 2013 NFL draft, but has lost his job as the team’s nickel pass-rush specialist. He still has three years remaining on his four-year, $2.714 million rookie contract with reasonable base salaries of $505,000 (2014), $595,000 (2015), and $685,000 (2016) coming his way.

So far this season, he has appeared in seven games and recorded just five tackles for the 49ers.
