49ers DE Justin Smith Expects To Be Ready For The Playoffs

49ers DE Justin Smith mentioned that he expects to be ready to play in the team’s upcoming playoff game, even if they are playing next weekend.

“Yeah, I’d be ready to play,” Smith said, via Matt Barrows of the Sacramento Bee. “Just go with it. That’s all you can do.”

Smith tore his triceps during Week 15’s game against the Patriots, but there’s been a reasonable amount of optimism that he would at least be able to give it shot in the coming weeks.

According to an orthopedic surgeon that spoke with the San Francisco Chronicle, Smith’s injury would require 12 weeks before he’s return to “game readiness.

Obviously, Smith is willing to play at much less than 100 percent and the 49ers could clearly use him on the field. Since he went down with injury, San Francisco’s defense has given up a staggering 71 points in 6 quarters of football. The team will have to cautious with him and his injury since there’s a chance that he could end up completely tearing his tendon, which would keep him out for an entire year.
