49ers Expected To Cut Ties With Jim Harbaugh 24-48 Hours After The Season, Makes Trade Difficult

Jay Glazer of FOX Sports reported over the weekend that a 49ers decision regarding HC Jim Harbaugh is expected to come down quickly.

According to Glazer, the 49ers should cut ties with Harbaugh 24-48 hours after the regular season ends.

Glazer mentions that Harbaugh doesn’t know what he wants to do in regards to his next job. The University of Michigan has reportedly offered him a six year contract worth close to $49 million and the Raiders and Jets have been rumored to be options as well.

Glazer adds that the Chicago Bears are another team to keep an eye on for Harbaugh as well.

Assuming Glazer’s timeline is accurate, Jason Cole doesn’t think the 49ers will be able to trade get a trade in place for their current head coach, especially given that Harbaugh doesn’t know what he wants to do.

With this in mind, it appears as though San Francisco could fire him and begin the process of finding their next head coach.

We’ll have more updates regarding Harbaugh throughout the week.
