49ers Hosted Free Agent WRs Ted Ginn Jr & Jerome Simpson

Matt Maiocco of CSN Bay Area reports that the 49ers met with free agent wide receivers Ted Ginn Jr and Jerome Simpson on Wednesday.

The Cardinals released Ginn last week in a move that created $2.5 million in cap space for Arizona.

Since then, reports have said that the Panthers and Browns were expected to have interest in him, but we’ve yet to hear of any meetings being scheduled with either team.

As for Simpson, there hasn’t been any reported interest in him since he was released by the Vikings in September.

The NFL suspended him three games for an incident in which he was arrested for violating a limited drivers license, marijuana possession, and an open bottle.

Simpson, 29, hasn’t appeared in an NFL since the 2013 season when he caught 48 receptions for 726 yards receiving and a touchdown.

Ginn, 29, appeared in all 16 games for the Cardinals and caught 14 passes for 190 yards receiving to go along with 694 total kick and punt return yards and a touchdown.

We have Ginn listed as the No. 94 player in our Top 100 Free Agents list.
