Seahawks RFA OT Garry Gilliam Turned Down Multi-Year Offer From 49ers

Sheil Kapadia of ESPN reports that the 49ers made a multi-year offer to Seahawks restricted free agent OT Garry Gilliambut he decided to turn it down.

According to Kapadia, Gilliam and the 49ers still have open lines of communication. However, he’s expected to sign his one-year, $1.797 million tender with the Seahawks next week if they’re unable to reach an agreement on an offer sheet.

Field Yates of ESPN first reported that the 49ers were hosting Gilliam for a visit on Thursday.

Seattle used an original-round tender on him that would cost them around $1.797 million for the 2017 season and give them the right of first refusal for any offer sheet he signs with another team during free agency.

Gilliam, 26, wound up signing on with the Seahawks as an undrafted free agent out of Penn State back in 2014. He managed to make the 53-man roster during his rookie season has been on their active roster ever since.

In 2016, Gilliam appeared in 14 games for the Seahawks and was rated by Pro Football Focus as the No. 71 offensive tackle out of 78 qualifying players.
