Matt Maiocco of CSN Bay Area reports that 49ers RB Marcus Lattimore is taking some time to contemplate his future in the NFL after he experienced some soreness in his surgically repaired knee.

Nobody knows Marcus’ body like Marcus, so he has to think some things over,” said Maiocco’s source.

Lattimore returned to practice on Wednesday after beginning the season on the non-football injury list. However, he experienced soreness in his knee after two days of practice and sat out of Friday’s session.

According to Maiocco, Lattimore is deciding whether he wants to continue his comeback from the major knee injury he suffered during his final year at South Carolina.

Head Jim Harbaugh mentioned that they expect to have an announcement regarding Lattimore at some point in the near future.

Lattimore, 23, was a fourth-round pick during the 2013 NFL draft, but has yet to appear in an NFL game. He has another two years remaining on his four-year, $2.46 million rookie contract with base salaries of $585,000 and $675,000 coming his way during this time.
