49ers Likely To Decline G Laken Tomlinson’s Fifth-Year Option

According to Matt Barrows, it appears as though the 49ers will not exercise G Laken Tomlinson‘s fifth-year option for the 2019 season.

This shouldn’t come as a big surprise, given that it would cost the 49ers $9,625,000 for the 2019 season and Tomlinson has not lived up to his draft status.

Tomlinson, 26, is a former first-round pick out of Duke by the Lions in the 2015 NFL Draft. He’s entering the final year of his four-year, $8.55 million rookie contract that included $6.949 million guaranteed and stands to make a base salary of $1,600,944 for 2018.

The 49ers acquired him from the Lions in exchange for a 2019 fifth-round pick.

In 2017, Tomlinson appeared in 15 games for the 49ers and was rated by Pro Football Focus as the No. 32 guard out of 77 qualifying players.
