49ers Place LB NaVorro Bowman On Injured Reserve, Activate LB Aaron Lynch

The San Francisco 49ers announced Thursday that they’ve placed LB NaVorro Bowman on the Injured Reserve and activated OLB Aaron Lynch from the roster exemption list.

Bowman, unfortunately, suffered a season-ending Achilles injury last weekend, so this move was expected to come at some point in the near future.

As for Lynch, he finished serving his four-game suspension for violating the NFL Policy and Program for Substances of Abuse.

Bowman, 28, is a former third-round pick of the 49ers back in 2010. He’s currently in the first year of his new seven-year, $77 million contract that includes $20 million guaranteed and stands to make a base salary of $5.85 million for the 2016 season.

Bowman’s 2016 season comes to an end with him appearing in four games and recorded 24 tackles, a forced fumble, an interception and two pass defenses.

Lynch, 23, is a former fifth-round pick of the 49ers back in 2014. He’s currently in the third year of his four-year, $2.418 million rookie contract and stands to make a base salary of $600,000 for the 2016 season.

In 2015, Lynch appeared in 14 games for the 49ers and recorded 38 tackles, 6.5 sacks, and three pass defenses.
