49ers Place S Jered Bell On I.R. After Clearing Waivers

The San Francisco 49ers placed S Jered Bell on injured reserve Wednesday after he passed through waivers unclaimed.

Bell, 24, wound up going undrafted out of Colorado back in May before signing a three-year, $1.62 million contract with the 49ers. He stands to make a base salary of $450,000 for the 2016 season.

The 49ers waived Bell with an injury designation on Tuesday to make room for WR Ryan Whalen.

During his four-year college career at Colorado, Bell recorded 142 tackles, eight tackles for a loss, a forced fumble, three recoveries, five interceptions and seven pass defenses.
