49ers Placing WR Pierre Garcon On IR Following Knee Scope

49ers HC Kyle Shanahan announced Monday that veteran WR Pierre Garcon will be placed on injured reserve after undergoing a knee scope, per Matt Barrows.

Garcon actually came up as a possible trade candidate before this year’s deadline, but the 49ers ultimately elected to hold on to him.

Garcon, 32, is a former sixth-round pick of the Colts back in 2008. He played four seasons for the Colts before joining the Redskins in 2012.

The 49ers signed Garcon to a five-year, $47.5 million contract that included $17 million guaranteed last year. He stands to make base salaries of $6.62 million and $5.6 million over the next two years of the agreement.

In 2018, Garcon appeared in eight games for the 49ers and caught 24 passes for 286 yards receiving and one touchdown.
