49ers HC Kyle Shanahan told reporters after the game that they’re worried QB Jimmy Garoppolo has a torn ACL.
“With Jimmy, we’re fearing ACL,” Shanahan said. “We’ll find out tomorrow. I haven’t had a chance to talk to him yet. I feel for him.”
49ers QB Jimmy Garoppolo took a big hit during the fourth quarter of Sunday’s game and was later taken to the locker room on a cart with a left knee for further evaluation.
Ian Rapoport reports that the 49ers fear Garoppolo has a serious knee injury.
Garoppolo, 26, is a former second-round pick of the Patriots back in 2014. The Patriots traded him to the 49ers at this last year’s deadline in return for a 2018 second-round pick.
Garoppolo was in line to be an unrestricted free agent when the 49ers signed him to a five-year, $137.5 million contract during the offseason.
Entering today’s game, Garoppolo had appeared in two games for the 49ers and completed 55.9 percent of his passes for 467 yards, three touchdowns and three interceptions.
