49ers Re-Sign CB Leon Hall, Release TE Logan Paulsen & DE Xavier Cooper

The San Francisco 49ers announced Tuesday that they’ve re-signed CB Leon Hall and release TE Logan Paulsen and DE Xavier Cooper.

Hall, 32, is a former first-round pick of the Bengals back in 2007. He spent nine years of his NFL career with the Bengals before signing a one-year contract with the Giants last August.

Hall signed on with the 49ers a few weeks ago but was cut loose last week.

In 2016, Hall appeared in 12 games and recorded 31 tackles, two sacks, an interception, a forced fumble and two pass defenses for the Giants. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 43 cornerback out of 111 qualifying players.

We had him featured in our Top 50 Available Free Agents list.

Paulsen, 30, signed on with the Redskins as an undrafted free agent out of UCLA back in 2012. Washington re-signed him to a three-year deal in 2013.

Unfortunately for Paulsen, he was placed on season-ending injured reserve at the start of the 2015 season and subsequently missed the entire year with a toe injury. The Bears signed him to a one-year contract last year.

San Francisco signed him to a contract this past March but wound up releasing him coming out of the preseason. It proved to be just a temporary move, as the 49ers re-signed Paulsen a day later. He’s been on and off of their roster this year.

In 2017, Paulsen has appeared in all seven games for the 49ers but has yet to catch a pass.
