49ers Re-Sign QB Josh Johnson, Waive TE Asante Cleveland

The San Francisco 49ers announced Tuesday that they have re-signed veteran QB Josh Johnson and placed TE Asante Cleveland on waivers.

San Francisco released Johnson this past weekend and signed Cleveland to their roster as Vernon Davis and Vance McDonald were not able to play in their Week 3 matchup against the Cardinals.

Johnson, 28, signed a one-year contract with the 49ers back in May, but has been Blaine Gabbert on their depth chart for several months. Johnson appeared in two games last year while playing for the Bengals and received seven carries for 20 yards.

Cleveland, 22, is an undrafted free agent out of Miami. During his four-year college career, Cleveland caught 14 passes for 151 yards receiving and a touchdown.
