49ers Confirm RB Kendall Hunter Has Torn ACL

Update:

The 49ers confirmed Saturday that RB Kendall Hunter suffered a torn ACL during Friday’s practice, per Matt Maiocco.

Hunter reportedly walked off under his own power, but apparently he had done enough damage to his ligament that he’ll likely miss the entire 2014 season.

You have to feel for Hunter given that he is entering the final year of his contract.

Last year, Hunter appeared in all 16 games for the 49ers and ran for 358 yards on 78 carries (4.6 YPC) and three touchdowns.

Ed Werder of ESPN reports that the 49ers are “concerned” about the leg injury RB Kendall Hunter suffered during Friday’s practice.

  • Werder spoke with team sources who mentioned that as of now, the seriousness of Hunter’s injury is unknown, but they “didn’t like the way it looked.”

Cam Inman of the Mercury News mentioned that Hunter “showed no visible limp but looked upset as he slowly walked off the field, accompanied by head trainer Jeff Ferguson.”

San Francisco does have some depth running back with Frank Gore, second-round pick Carlos Hyde, Marcus Lattimore and LaMichael James rounding out their backfield.

Hopefully for Hunter, the injury isn’t anything major as he is entering the final year of his contract.
