49ers S Dashon Goldson Not Open To Being Franchised Again

The San Francisco 49ers’ first-team All-Pro safety, Dashon Goldson, doesn’t want to be given the franchise tag for the second year in a row.

“There’s no security in it,” Goldson said, per The San Francisco Chronicle. “I’ve been in this league now six years, going on seven. I think I’ve done what I’ve had to do to deserve a second contract, period.”

Franchising Goldson again this season would come with a 20 percent increase and cost them $7.5 million. Goldson is believed to be targeting a five year deal worth close to $40 million.

Despite being voted to the Pro Bowl and All-Pro teams, Goldson ranked 13th in coverage among safeties, 44th in tackling efficiency and 21st in run stopping, per Pro Football Focus.
