49ers Sign CB Leon McFadden & TE Xavier Gamble To Practice Squad, Cut Two

 

The San Francisco 49ers announced Monday night that they signed CB Leon McFadden and rookie TE Xavier Gamble to their practice squad.

• The 49ers waived cornerback Chance Casey and linebacker Shayne Skov to make room for the two players.

The Jets claimed McFadden off of waivers from the Browns just a few weeks ago, but he wound up lasting just a few days with the team before he was cut loose.

McFadden, 23, was selected in the third-round of the 2013 NFL draft by the Browns. Last year, McFadden appeared in all 16 games for the Browns and recorded 20 tackles and a pass defense.

Grimble signed on with the Giants as an undrafted free agent out of USC back in May.  During his college career, he recorded 69 receptions for 731 yards and 11 touchdowns in his collegiate career.
