49ers Sign CB Will Davis, Waive WR Rashad Ross

The San Francisco 49ers announced Thursday that they’ve signed CB Will Davis and placed WR Rashad Ross on waivers.

Davis, 27, is a former third-round draft pick of the Dolphins back in 2013. Miami later traded him to the Ravens in for a seventh-round pick, but he wound up missing the 2015 season due to a torn ACL.

However, Davis lasted over a year in Baltimore and was waived in October of last year.

In 2016, Davis appeared in three games and recorded four tackles, an interception and a pass defense for the Ravens.

Ross, 26, originally signed on with the Titans as an undrafted free agent out of Arizona State back in 2013. He had brief stints with the Chiefs, Redskins and Bears before returning to Washington during the 2014 season.

Ross has managed to make the 53-man roster in each of the past two years with the Redskins. However, he was cut loose by Washington back in December and later added to the Lions’ practice squad.

The 49er signed him to a future/reserve contract this past January.

In 2016, Ross has appeared in five games and caught one pass for eight yards receiving and no touchdowns. He has also contributed 22 kick return yards for Washington this season.
