49ers Sign Darnell Docket To A Two-Year Deal

Drew Rosenhaus, the agent for Darnell Dockett, announced via his Twitter account that his client has signed with the 49ers.

  • Pro Football Talk reports that Dockett will receive a two-year contract from the team.
  • Ian Rapoport reports that Dockett’s contract is worth $7.5 million and includes $2 million guaranteed. He’ll make $4 million in the first year of the agreement.
  • According to PFT, the Cardinals offered him a deal that included $4 million in 2015, but the 49ers guaranteed $2 million of the contract.

Mike Jurecki of Fox Sports 910 reported last night that the 49ers were “closing in” on signing him to a contract, so this isn’t all that surprising.

Dockett, 33, sustained a torn ACL and MCL that he sustained during a preseason practice back in August.

In 2013, Dockett recorded 46 tackles and 4.5 sacks over the course of 16 games for the Cardinals. That year, Pro Football Focus rated him as the No. 30 defensive end in a 3-4 defense out of 45 qualifying players.

We had Dockett listed as the No. 88 player in our Top 100 Free Agents list.w
