49ers Sign Third-Round Pick G Brandon Thomas

The 49ers announced Friday that they have signed third-round pick G Brandon Thomas to a four-year contract.

San Francisco now has nine of their 12 raft picks under contract, so I’m sure they will have the remainder taken care of in the next few days.

Thomas’ four-year contract is worth an estimated $2,726,016 which includes a signing bonus of $506,016, according to OverTheCap.com.

During the draft process, Thomas unfortunately suffered an ACL tear during a pre-draft workout with the Saints. Many believed he could have come off the board in the early portion of round two had he not suffered the knee injury.

The fact that the 49ers have such a deep roster affords them the ability to essentially red-shirt players such as RB Marcus Lattimore as they enter the NFL.

Grabbing Thomas in round three could pay off big for San Francisco down the line.
