49ers Signing S Marcus Ball To Practice Squad

According to Matt Barrows, the 49ers are signing S Marcus Ball to their practice squad.

  • Ball fills the vacant spot on the practice squad left by S Vinnie Sunseri being promoted to the active roster.

The 49ers’ practice squad now consists of:

  1. LB Marcus Rush
  2. OL Fahn Cooper (injured)
  3. OL Alex Balducci
  4. CB Prince Charles Iworah
  5. OL  Norman Price
  6. RB  Kelvin Taylor
  7. LB Curtis Grant
  8. WR DeAndre Smelter
  9. WR Mose Frazier
  10. OT Colin Kelly
  11. S Marcus Ball

Ball, 29, signed as a free agent with the Argonauts back in February of 2012. He spent two years with the Argonauts and totaled  142 tackles, seven sacks, four interceptions, two returned for touchdowns and three fumble recoveries over this time.

New Orleans wound up signing him to a three-year contract in April of 2014 and would go on to appear in 12 games and recorded 16 total tackles.

Ball later caught on with the Panthers last year but was, unfortunately, among their final roster cuts coming out of the preseason. He was on and off of the Panthers’ active roster this year before signing on to the Jaguars’ practice squad.

Jacksonville decided to waive Ball from their practice squad to make room for DB Doran Grant.

In 2016, Ball has been active for one game but has yet to record a statistic.
