49ers Sign Veteran RB Alfred Morris, Waive OL Alan Knott

Update:

The San Francisco 49ers announced Tuesday that they’ve officially signed RB Alfred Morris to a contract and waived OL Alan Knott.

49ers HC Kyle Shanahan announced Monday that they’re signing veteran RB Alfred Morris to a contract.

“I do believe he has a chance to make this team,” Shanahan said of Morris, per Matt Maiocco.

Jerick McKinnon and Matt Breida are dealing with injuries right now, so it makes sense that the 49ers would want to add some depth at the position.

Morris, 29, is a former sixth-round pick of the Redskins back in 2012. He played four seasons in Washington before signing a two-year, $3.5 million contract with the Cowboys in 2016 that includes a $1 million base salary for the 2017 season.

Morris has been testing the open market as an unrestricted free agent this offseason.

In 2017, Morris appeared in 13 games for the Cowboys and rushed for 547 yards on 115 carries (4.8 YPC) to go along with seven reception for 45 yards receiving and one touchdown.
