49ers Starting QB Colin Kaepernick In Week 14

49ers OC Curtis Modkins announced Tuesday that Colin Kaepernick will get the start in Week 14’s game against the Jets.

Kaepernick is coming off of a terrible performance against the Bears, which led to him being benched in favor of Blaine Gabbert.

However, it appears as though they want give Kaepernick another opportunity to see what he can do before considering a change at quarterback.

Yesterday, Jason Cole of B/R reports that Kaepernick’s future with the 49ers is “cloudy” after he was benched during Sunday’s loss to the Bears. (NFLTR)

Kaepernick, 29, was in the third year of his seven-year, $126.97 million contract that included $61 million guaranteed when reached an agreement with the 49ers on a restructured deal.

Kaepernick’s new contract will give him the ability to void his deal after this season and test the open market. He can earn $1 million in play-time incentives if he takes 34.4 percent of the team’s snaps. The 49ers got him to waive his injury guarantees for next season as part of the agreement.

According to previous reports, Kaepernick also took out a $7.5 million loss-of-value insurance policy prior to signing his renegotiated contract.

In 2016, Kaepernick has completed 55.3 percent of his passes for 1,440 yards and 10 touchdowns and three interceptions, while adding 373 yards rushing. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 28 quarterback out of 35 qualifying players.
