49ers “Very Likely” To Sign QB Tom Savage

Jordan Schultz reports that the 49ers are “very liking” signing QB Tom Savage to a contract in the coming days.

San Francisco previously brought Savage in for a workout and had him take a physical for the team. Schultz says that Savage would take another physical that will be less extensive the first time around.

Savage, 28, is a former fourth-round pick of the Texans back in 2014. He played out the final year of his four-year, $2.52 million contract and made a base salary of $690,000 for the 2017 season.

The Saints signed Savage to a one-year, $1.5 million deal back in March, but was released coming out of the preseason.

In 2017, Savage appeared in eight games and completed 56.1 percent of his passes for 1412 yards, five touchdowns and six interceptions. The Texans placed him on injured reserve after he suffered a scary concussion.
