49ers Waive DL Ryan Delaire, Promote TE Ross Dwelley

The San Francisco 49ers announced Monday that they have promoted TE Ross Dwelley to the active roster and waived DL Ryan Delaire.

Delaire, 26, originally signed on with the Buccaneers as an undrafted free agent out of back in May of 2015. He lasted just a few months with the Buccaneers before he was waived coming out of the preseason and later signed to the Redskins’ practice squad.

The Panthers signed him to their active roster a few weeks into the 2015 season and he finished out the year in Carolina. Unfortunately, the Panthers waived Delaire in July of last year and wound up missing the entire 2017 season.

The Colts signed him to a contract last month but was among their final roster cuts coming out of the preseason. Delaire signed on with the 49ers soon after and was recently promoted to the active roster.

In 2016, Delaire appeared in six games for the Panthers and recorded three tackles, one sack and a pass defense.
