49ers Waive QB Tom Savage, Promote CB Emmanuel Moseley

Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that the 49ers are waiving QB Tom Savage on Thursday, which is a good sign that C.J. Beathard will at least be active tonight.

The 49ers also promoted CB Emmanuel Moseley to their active roster.

Savage, 28, is a former fourth-round pick of the Texans back in 2014. He played out the final year of his four-year, $2.52 million contract and made a base salary of $690,000 for the 2017 season.

The Saints signed Savage to a one-year, $1.5 million deal back in March, but was released coming out of the preseason. The 49ers signed him to a contract a few ago and he’s been on and off of their active roster.

In 2017, Savage appeared in eight games and completed 56.1 percent of his passes for 1412 yards, five touchdowns and six interceptions. The Texans placed him on injured reserve after he suffered a scary concussion.

Moseley, 22, wound up signing on with the 49ers as an undrafted free agent out of Tennessee back in May. He agreed to a three-year, $1.71 million contract with the 49ers, but was waived coming out of the preseason.

The 49ers re-signed Moseley to their practice squad after he cleared waivers a day later.

During his college career at Tennessee, Moseley recorded 141 tackles, two interceptions, and 29 pass defenses over the course of four seasons and 48 games.
