49ers Waive Veteran DT Tony McDaniel

The San Francisco 49ers officially placed DT Tony McDaniel on waivers Monday and placed G J.P. Flynn on the practice squad injured list.

McDaniel, 32, originally signed on with the Jaguars back in 2006 as an undrafted free agent out of Tennessee. After three years in Jacksonville, McDaniel was traded tot eh Dolphins in return for a seventh-round pick that ultimately became WR Julian Edelman.

McDaniel later signed on with the Seahawks in 2013 before being released a few years later. The Buccaneers signed him to a one-year deal for the 2015 season and he later returned to Seattle on another one-year contract last year.

The Saints signed McDaniel to a one-year, $1 million contract this past June but he was, unfortunately, released coming out of the preseason. McDaniel signed on with the 49ers last month.

In 2017, McDaniel appeared in four games for the 49ers and recorded five tackles, no sacks, a forced fumble and a pass defense.
