49ers Waive WR Max McCaffrey With Injury Settlement

The San Francisco 49ers announced Wednesday that they’ve waived WR Max McCaffrey with an injury designation.

Should McCaffrey clear waivers tomorrow, he would revert to the 49ers’ injured serve list.

McCaffrey, 24, wound up signing on with the Raiders as an undrafted free agent out of Duke back in May of 2016. He signed a three-year, $1.62 million contract with the Raiders before he was unfortunately among their roster cuts coming out of the preseason.

McCaffrey had brief stints with the Packers, Saints and Jaguars before returning to Green Bay last October and signing on to their practice squad. The 49ers would later sign him to their active roster and he finished out the year in San Francisco.

In 2017, McCaffrey appeared in five games and caught one pass for four years and no touchdowns.
