The 49ers waived/injured RB Kendall Hunter on Monday, according to the NFL transaction release.
- Hunter would end up on the team’s injured reserve list if he ends up going unclaimed.
Hunter, 25, suffered a season-ending ACL tear a few weeks ago. He is in the final year of his contract, so this could impact a team’s decision to claim him off of waivers.
San Francisco has said that they would like to re-sign Hunter next year, even after he suffered the knee injury.
Last year, Hunter appeared in all 16 games for the 49ers and ran for 358 yards on 78 carries (4.6 YPC) and three touchdowns.
