Aaron Wilson of the National Football Post, citing a league source, reports that the 49ers are working out OL Ben Gottschalk on Monday.

According to Wilson, Gottschalk was given a physical during his visit, which could be an indication that they may sign him to a contract at some point.

Gottschalk recently worked out for the Packers.

Gottschalk, 23, signed on with the Chiefs as an undrafted free agent out of SMU back in May of last year. He was unable to make Kansas City’s 53-man roster coming out of the preseason, but was later added to their practice squad.

The Buccaneers signed him to a contract in early April. However, he was waived to make room for K Brandon Bogotay a few weeks ago.

Gottschalk has yet to appear in an NFL game.
