49ers Worked Out Five Players Including LB Lorenzo Mauldin & DE Terrence Fede

The San Francisco 49ers brought in five free agents for workouts this week including LB Lorenzo Mauldin, according to Howard Balzer.

The full list of tryouts includes:

  1. T Blaine Clausell
  2. DE Terrence Fede
  3. DL Kapron Lewis-Moore
  4. LB Lorenzo Mauldin
  5. G Marcus Oliver (CFL)

Mauldin, 26, was arrested last summer for misdemeanor assault for an alleged attack that occurred at New York nightclub. Mauldin allegedly punched a man in the face during an altercation after the man spilled champagne on Mauldin.

The victim later sued Mauldin but charges were eventually dropped.

Mauldin suffered a season-ending back injury last year that led to him being placed on injured reserve. He was among the Jets’ final roster cuts coming out of the preseason.

Since becoming a free agent, Mauldin has worked out for the Bears and Lions but left both teams without a contract.

In 2016, Mauldin appeared in 11 games for the Jets and recorded 16 tackles, 2.5 sacks, an interception and two pass defenses. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 82 edge defender out of 109 qualifying players.

Fede, 27, is a former seventh-round pick by the Dolphins out of Marist in the 2014 NFL Draft. After finishing his four-year rookie contract with Miami, he signed a one-year, $880,000 contract with the Bills back in April.

However, his stay in Buffalo was short-lived after being released as the team trimmed down their roster to the 53-man limit.

Since becoming a free agent, Fede has worked out for the Vikings, Raiders, and Titans but left each meeting without a contract.

In 2017, Fede appeared in all 16 games for the Dolphins and recorded 15 total tackles, no sacks, and one fumble recovery.
