49ers Working Out Free Agent DE Cedric Reed

Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that the 49ers are bringing in free agent DE Cedric Reed for a workout on Thursday.

Reed, 24, wound up signing on with the Bills as an undrafted free agent out of Texas back in May of 2015. He was unable to make the 53-man roster coming out of the preseason, but was spent his rookie season on and off of their practice squad.

Buffalo elected to bring him back on a future/reserve contract last year before cutting him loose in July. The Dolphins later signed Reed to a contract last August, but waived him after just a few weeks and ultimately sat out the entire 2016 season.

During his four-year college career at Texas, Reed recorded 180 tackles, 18.5 sacks, six forced fumbles, two recoveries and seven pass defenses.
