49ers WR Pierre Garcon Out For Season With Neck Injury, Heading To IR

49ers GM John Lynch tells KNBR that veteran WR Pierre Garcon will be placed on injured reserve and miss the remainder of the season with a neck injury, per John Lund.

San Francisco will move forward with a receiving corps that consists of Trent Taylor, Victor Bolden, Aldrick Robinson, and Kendrick Bourne.

Garcon, 31, is a former sixth-round pick of the Colts back in 2008. He played four seasons for the Colts before joining the Redskins in 2012.

The 49ers signed Garcon to a five-year, $47.5 million contract that included $17 million guaranteed this past March. He stands to make base salaries of $3.67 million and $6.62 million over the next two years of the agreement.

In 2017, Garcon appeared in eight games and caught 40 passes for 500 yards receiving and no touchdowns for the 49ers. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 9 receiver out of 109 qualifying players.
