A Chance Marcus Lattimore Plays This Season?

49ers rookie RB Marcus Lattimore told reporters that he feels as though he’s capable of participating in training camp activities.

“I could play now, without question,” said Lattimore, via the Los Angeles Times“I probably wouldn’t look my best. But if I was called upon, it could happen.”

San Francisco drafted Lattimore in the fourth-round, despite the fact that he’s coming off of a major knee injury that he suffered while at the University of South Carolina. The 49ers currently have him on active/non-football injury list, which means he does not count against the 90-man roster.

Lattimore added that there is still a chance he could return at some point this season.

“My best-case scenario is in Week 10 something like that, I get out there and will be full speed and ready to go,” he said.

This is clearly an optimistic take on his situation, but it’s more likely that the 49ers will treat his rookie season redshirt year, rather than risk further injury.
