Aaron Wilson of the Baltimore Sun spoke to the agent for former Eagles CB Cary Williams, who said that his client has already been contacted by a dozen NFL teams since being released on Tuesday.

  • According to Williams’ rep, there is “heavy interest” in the veteran cornerback right now.
  • Yesterday, Wilson reported Williams has “strong interest” in returning to the Ravens.

These reports could be an attempt to drum up interest in his client before the start of free agency. NFL teams can begin meeting with free agents on Saturday, so there is a small window of time for players like Williams to meet with interested teams and hopefully get a deal in place before next Tuesday.

Baltimore seems like a good fit for Williams given their need for cornerback depth, the fact that signing him won’t impact their compensatory picks, and he put together his best season in the NFL while playing for them in 2012.

Williams, 30, appeared in all 16 games for the Eagles and recorded 60 tackles, two interceptions and 10 pass defenses last year. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 49 cornerback in the league out of 108 qualifying players.
