Adam Schefter’s 10 Spot: Unlikely Trades

In Adam Schefter’s latest 10 spot article, he proposes five trades that should happen before the deadline be won’t. Here’s some of the noteworthy information from his article.

  • Marion Barber to the Packers for a fourth-round pick.
    • It’s no secret that Green Bay really needs some help at the RB position so Barber would definitely be an upgrade. The best part of this deal for Dallas would be that they could shed Barber $45 million salary that he is owed.
  • Marc Bulger to Arizona for Derek Anderson and third-round pick
    • The Cardinals obviously made the wrong decision when they choose to pass on Marc Bulger but this deal could net them a QB that could help them win the NFC North. The Ravens would get a backup QB that they are familiar with.
  • Logan Mankins to the Bears for Tommie Harris and fourth-round pick
    • The Bears need the offensive line help and the Patriots could the defensive line upgrade. New England would get back the fourth-round pick that they let go last week.
  • Vincent Jackson to Seattle for a second an fifth round pick
    • Trading Jackson would get the Chargers some value and they would only slightly be lowering their demands for him. Seattle has a very young an inexperienced receiving core so Jackson could be a big help for them.
  • Carolina trades Steve Smith to St Louis for a second-round pick
    • The Rams have lost their two best receiver options for the season this year and getting Smith would really make their offense much more of a threat. Carolina would recover some good value for Smith but they may want more than just a second round pick for him. Oh ya, and they have no intentions of trading him as of now.

Schefter is right that these deals would address a lot of the obvious problems that these teams are dealing with but they remain unlikely.
