Adrian Peterson “Definitely Not” In Buccaneers’ Plans

According to Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times, Adrian Peterson is “definitely NOT” in the Buccaneers’ plans

Earlier in the week, Bucs QB Jameis Winston posted a picture of him at a workout with Peterson, which led to some speculation that he could be an option for Tampa Bay.

Bucs coach Dirk Koetter even mentioned that he plans to get a scouting report from Winston about Peterson.

“I’ve seen Adrian Peterson many times playing and that guy is one of the best running backs to ever play,” Koetter said. “I’m anxious to talk to Jameis and ask him how his workouts went. That caught me off guard. I didn’t know that. I’ll be honest with you, first thing I thought when I saw that was Jamies is just an amazing guy. The guy is everywhere.”

However, Stroud says that there’s “almost no scenario where you can picture him in Tampa Bay.

The recent buzz regarding Peterson has involved the Packers (NFLTR), who reportedly considered bringing him in for a visit, but plan to wait until after the draft before reconsidering their options at the position.

Peterson, 31, is a former first-round pick of the Vikings back in 2007. He was entering the final year of his three-year, $44 million contract that included $20 million guaranteed and was set to make a base salary of $11.75 million to go along with a $6 million roster bonus due on March 11.

Peterson is testing the open market for the first time in his career.

In 2016, Peterson has rushed for 72 yards on 37 carries (1.9 YPC) to go along with three receptions for eight yards receiving and no touchdowns over the course of three games.
