Tom Pelissero of ESPN 1500 Twins Cities is predicting that Vikings running back Adrian Peterson will receive anywhere from 5 to 10 carries as he returns to field for the first time since last December.
“I’ll repeat what I said yesterday: unless something goes wrong I think Peterson plays and could get 5 to 10 carries,” tweeted Pelissero.
Peterson made it clear in his weekly session with reporters that he wanted to play, but the decision was ultimately up to the Vikings and head coach Leslie Frazier. Even if Peterson is held out of Sunday’s game against the Jaguars for precautionary reasons, it’s clear that he’s getting close to 100 percent. Toby Gerhart will almost certainly receive a lot of playing time this weekend.
