Adrian Peterson Looking Another Opportunity, “Open” To Re-Signing With Saints

Free agent RBĀ Adrian Peterson tells Tom Pelissero of NFL Media that he’s healthy and ready to go for the 2018 season.

“I’m healthy and I’m ready to roll,” Peterson said. “If you want someone to help you win a championship and be productive — be very productive — you know how to contact me.”

Peterson said he’d “definitely be open” to returning to theĀ Saints, who will be without Mark Ingram for the first four games of the season. However, the Saints reportedly have no plans to sign a veteranĀ running back while they’re without Ingram.

“For whatever reason, it just didn’t work out (in New Orleans), but when I got my shot in Arizona, I showed what I was able to do,” said Peterson. “I know once I get back out there, I’ll be blessed with a healthy season and show people I’m still the best in the league.”

“I’m just waiting for the opportunity to come,” Peterson added.

Peterson, 32, is a former first-round pick of the Vikings back in 2007. After 10 seasons in Minnesota, Peterson signed a two-year, $7 million contract with the Saints and stands to make base salaries of $1 million and $1.05 million over the next two years.

The Saints elected to trade Peterson to the CardinalsĀ for a 2018 sixth-round pick last year. However, Arizona cut him loose this past March in a move that freed up $2,881,250 of available cap space.

In 2017, Peterson appeared in 10 games for the Saints and Cardinals and rushed for 529 yards on 156 carries (3.4 YPC) to go along with 11 receptions for 70 yards receiving and two total touchdowns.
